I have many memories to share; they have been with me for over 38 years.  My two years at Malone University in Canton, Ohio, were two wonderful years of my life. After coaching at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, for 12 years, I was invited to coach soccer at Malone. I was hesitant about staying in the coaching profession as the salary for coaching at a small college was very low. So many friends were making more money, including some of my former players!  Although Malone was not offering much more, I really liked the Malone people I met. Jack Hazen was having tremendous success in coaching cross country and track. Jack and I had gone to the same high school.  As I write this, Jack is still at Malone and continues to set records that will never be met by anyone.

I was impressed by the Malone President, Lon Randall. When you were with him, he made you feel important and acted like just like a close friend who wanted you to succeed.



Scott Oelslager, (Malone SID and a Mount grad), and basketball coach, Phil Hoskins, both gave me encouragement that helped to make my decision easier.

                  Troy Montgomery scored four goals and helped Malone College set five school records Saturday as the Pioneers mauled Mount Vernon Nazarene 9-1 at the Canton Campus.

The victory set school standards for goals in one game, goals in a half (five in the first) and victory margin. Montgomery notched three goals in the opening half, with teammate Phil Eades of England chipping in two first-half goals.

Scoring Malone goals in the second half were Montgomery, Arsalan Nikzad of Iran, Bob Krauss and Farzin Behji of Iran. The Pioneers improved to 4-1.
